Generosity Corner for Sunday, November 10, 2019

Click here to watch a video to prepare your heart and mind for our service Sunday.

Grace and Peace to you in the name of Jesus Christ!

By now I’m sure you’re aware that Sunday, November 17 is Consecration Sunday at Shiloh. We know that your spiritual growth and the mission and ministries of Shiloh are important to you, and so on behalf of the Generosity Team at Shiloh, I’d like to invite you to attend the two special events happening on Consecration Sunday – morning worship and the Celebration Luncheon immediately following worship. This is a catered meal, so we need reservations for each person. If you have not finalized plans to attend these two events, I’d encourage you to do so as soon as possible.

Our goal is to have every member and regular worship attendee present. If you did not make a reservation during the last two weeks, please let us know that you will be present by calling 656-0050 or completing the form at This is an important process both for your own spiritual growth in the practice of generosity, but also for the effectiveness of our church’s mission and ministries over the next year. Please plan to be present on November 17. I look forward to seeing you there!

In Christ,

Pastor Tyler

NOVEMBER WORSHIP – Grateful, Thankful, Blessed: Rooted in Generosity
This November we will be exploring the life of 3 women in the Bible and how their giving helped begin the transformation of the world.  Join us as we learn from these saints of our tradition of how generous lives can allow us to be part of God’s love.

FAITH & FILM – The movie for tonight at 5:30 pm is Blinded by the Light.  In England in 1987, a teenager from an Asian family learns to live his life, understand his family and find his own voice through the music of American rock star, Bruce Springsteen.  Bring a snack and a friend and join us for the movie and stay for the discussion after the movie.
ANIMATE! – We think it is important for people to take time out to understand their faith, so they can animate it in their everyday lives.  Shiloh is providing 3 sessions of Animate groups.  Each session is a 7-week course.  Tuesday groups meet at Mission Ridge at St. Johns at 10:30 and at Shiloh at noon (Nov 12, 26).  Thursday’s group meets at 6:30 pm at the Ragsdale’s house, members of EUMC, at 612 Wyoming    (Nov 14, 21).

A HUGE THANK YOU – A huge thank you to everyone who helped with Trunk or Treat and for everyone who donated candy this year or helped decorate inside.  All of this is what makes Trunk or Treat at SUMC a huge success. – Brenda Longin
SUMC BOOK REVIEW – Our Book Review group will be discussing Where the Red Fern Grows on Tuesday at 6:00 pm.  Please come join in!!

AGING WELL – Please mark your calendars for Aging Well on Wed (Nov 13, at 11:30 am. This month’s program will be a presentation on Nutrition and Health Cooking.  All our presentations are interactive, educational and fun.  Everyone is welcome, so please bring a friend.  RSVP’s are appreciated and assist us with our luncheon needs.  Please feel free to contact the church office.

CHURCH DIRECTORY PICTURES – If you haven’t yet, please have your picture taken for the church directory.  If you would rather, please email a (landscape format) family and/or an individual picture to Pam at  Thank you SO much!

FALL MISSIONS PROJECTS – This fall the Missions Team is sponsoring the following projects: Sleeping bags for the HUB.  If you would like to sponsor one or more they are $44.00 each.  Please write your check to SUMC with sleeping bag in the memo. White socks for the HUB.  Please purchase white socks and put them in the tub. The Angel Tree will be up by November 17 this year.  There will be tags for Tumbleweed, Independence Hall, St. John’s and Autumn Springs this year.  We will also have boxes for pantry items needed by Tumbleweed and Independence Hall.

CHILDREN AND YOUTH COMMITTEE – The children and Youth committee is looking for more volunteers to join our small committee. We do a lot of community outreach and are looking for a few more people to join our super fun team.  Our next project is the annual CRAFT AND BAKE SALE on Sunday, December 1 and 8. Items for the sale can be dropped off before the sale or during the sale.  All proceeds will go to the Children and Youth Ministries.

VISTATION TEAM – Due to the shortage of Visitation Ministers, they will no longer be able to check the hospitals every day.  If you or a family member are in the hospital and you would like a visit from the Visitation Team, please call the church at 656-0050 and a leave a message. A team member will visit as soon as possible.

SNOW REMOVAL – It is winter and the signup sheet is on the blue table in the entrance for snow shoveling.  There is a snow blower available and a member of the Trustees will be happy to teach the volunteer how to use it. You do not have to shovel the parking lot, only the sidewalks in front of the church.

If you appreciate what Shiloh does, please consider giving to us financially.  You can give online at  Thank you for supporting our work.
