Pastor’s Corner for June 30, 2019

People of Shiloh,
Faith formation, the way we grow in our understanding of how God is at work in our lives is a lifelong process.  Some of the most important years of my faith formation were in college.  As I learned world expanding ideas, prepared for a job, and saw the challenges of world rise before me it was good to have other companions to learn together how our faith would wrap throughout life to make a firm foundation for living in Christ.
One of my favorite memories from this time was sitting in a room with my campus minister, at a whiteboard, talking about some book I had found and how its understandings tied to my Christian faith.  We looked like some kind of Beautiful Mind convention as we drew ideas on the board and connected them.  We went from arguing, to laughing, topondering, and I was thankful for the time offered to help me see where these new ideas and my faith could come together.
This Sunday we are going to be welcoming Dwight Welch, the Campus Chaplain for United Campus Ministry at MSU Billings.    Dwight is ordained in the United Church of Christ and is a leader in our community.  He works with students of all ages through his ministry at a school that has more non-traditional students than others.  Dwight also gets to play a role at a secular school that most chaplains at larger institutions do not.  The University invites him to sit in on school committees and be a voice in the direction of the institution.
I hope you will join us this Sunday as we learn about campus ministry and if you get a nudge from God on a way Shiloh can support Dwight’s work directly, please let me know.
Enthusiastic Peace,
Pastor Tyler
It was a such an honor and privlege for us to work alongside Billings First UMC this year for Vacation Bible School and our Easter Egg Hunt. Vacation Bible School had over 75 kids at it and included 4 of our volunteers there full time. 15 of our young people from Shiloh had a great time. We look forward to more fruitful and God-centered partnerships like the one we had with Billings First UMC this year.  (Click to watch the short video of our VBS fun)
Two weeks ago, during Annual Conference for the Mountain Sky Conference.  Over 500 people engaged in missional learning and work experiences to share the love of Christ in our community. Pastor Tyler, Lay Leader of 1st UMC, Pat Otstot, and Kent Thompson helped with the organization.  At Shiloh got to experience an Aging Well Program, help maintain our community garden, and others throughout the community served over 20 agencies.
