People of Shiloh,
Happy New Year! Alright I know, it is not 2020 yet. However, the Sunday that is 4 Sundays before Christmas marks a new year on the Christian calendar. It marks the beginning of a new cycle of living alongside the life of Christ. This year begins with Advent, the season of preparing for Jesus’ birth. Christ’s birth is a time for us to remember that God incarnated into human flesh to demonstrate the deepest love we could know… a love that permeates throughout the universe and even risks living in transitory human flesh.
This Advent, I invite each of us to finish reading the gospel of Luke. In the beginning of 2019, I challenged us to read this entire gospel. Next year I will challenge us to read one more gospel. Focus on the character of Joseph as you read the birth story, this is the character I am going to ask us to focus on this Advent season. Joseph has some important lessons to teach us about the courage of fostering, raising, and nurturing Christ’s presence in our world.
Finally, I would ask you to mark December 5, 6—8 pm at Evangelical UMC on your calendars. We will hold our All Church-Charge Conference. This is an annual meeting to vote on important business for our church including leadership and most especially we are going to share with 4 other churches in what God is doing in Billings. If you are interested in Shiloh’s future, this is a great meeting to attend. Please plan to be at this meeting, childcare is provided.
Enthusiastic Peace,
Pastor Tyler

DECEMBER WORSHIP – Faithful: Christmas Through the Eyes of Joseph.  This December we will be journeying toward the birth of Christ with a key character to the story of Joseph.  Sometimes we over look this role, but Joseph was a father who helped raise Jesus and care for him.  What courageous action can we learn from the role of raising our savior?
HOLIDAY CRAFT AND BAKE SALE AND MINI TREE AUCTION – The Children & Youth Committee is sponsoring a craft and bake sale this Sunday and next Sunday.  Items for the sale can be dropped off before the sale or during the sale.  All proceeds will go to the Children & Youth Ministry.  The auction proceeds will be split between Youth/Children and the Relay for Life Team.
RELAY FOR LIFE – The Relay for Life team will be selling Butter Braids for $15.00 each again this year and they will arrive in time for Christmas.  Please see Pat Montgomery, Liz Stanhope or Susan Hathaway after church on December 1 and 8.  Thank you for your support of the 2020 Relay for Life team.
DEEPER DIVE… FAITHFUL: CHRISTMAS THROUGH THE EYES OF JOSEPH – Join us as we study the deeper stories of Joseph. This study takes a deeper look at the sermons heard on Sundays and helps us journey with Joseph to the birth of Christ. We will be using a study by UMC Pastor Adam Hamilton. The book for this series is available for $16. Please tell the office if you are interested in purchasing one. They take 2 days to order and receive. The study will meet December 3, 10 and 17; 10:30 am at Mission Ridge and noon at Shiloh.
CHURCH DIRECTORY PICTURES – If you haven’t yet, please have your picture taken for the church directory.  If you would rather email a (landscape format) family and/or an individual to Pam at pam.d@shilohbillings .church.  Thanks!
CHURCH CHARGE CONFERENCE – Join us on December 5 at 6:00 pm at Evangelical UMC, 345 Broadwater Ave. as we gather to meet with other UMCs.  At this meeting, we will learn about the future of the UMC, and then approve our official business for next year.  Everyone is encouraged to attend.
FAITH AND FILM – Back by popular demand! Join us as for an encore presentation of the independent film Find Me on Dec. 8 at 5:30 pm. The movie is about an emotionally wounded accountant who decides to break away from routine and find his missing friend, who left clues for him of her whereabouts throughout National Parks across the West.  Bring a snack and join in the discussion after the film.
MESSY CHURCH – Come join us Dec. 9 from 6:00-7:00 pm. We will have a birthday party for Jesus with music, crafts, and cookie decorating!  All ages are welcome!  This is a great time to worship as a family and have a lot of fun too!  We hope to see you there!!!
2019 ANGEL TREE – The 2019 Angel Tree is up! This year, it supports the following: Independence Hall – they request $25 gift cards from Walmart and/or Pantry items. The Tumbleweed program requests the same as Independence Hall but would like gift cards from either Walmart or Target or fast food certificates.  St. John’s: Gifts per individual requests.  Autumn Springs: Gifts per individual requests.  Donations for gift cards can be given by notation of check or in a giving envelope.  There is a list of ideas for Pantry Items in a holder on the Tumbleweed tote next to the Giving Tree. No greeting cards please. Gifts are due back on or before December 15!
*NEW* SHILOH FACILITY WORK TEAM – Do you want to help us with odd jobs and repair projects that need to be done to keep our facilities ready for ministry.  We would like to add you to an email/text list for our new Shiloh Facilities Work Team.  Please let us know if you are interested by leaving your name, email and/or number you can receive a text on in the office or by emailing Tyler. Thanks!
FREE STORE – Even though the calendar says we are still in fall, there are days the weather seems more like winter in February.  Consequently, the shoppers are in need of all kinds of winter wear.  We are especially short of mittens for ages 3-12, both sexes.  This church is always so supportive of this important ministry, which is so appreciated! The Free Store is now accepting paper backs. Whenever possible, please drop items off at EUMC (Drop-off  times are available Mon-Wed).  We really appreciate your support!!

If you appreciate what Shiloh does, please consider giving to us financially.  You can give online at  Thank you for supporting our work.
