People of Shiloh,

In my work to share weekly messages rooted in scripture, I find it helpful to ask the congregation a series of questions.  My aim in preaching is to help us “build a Christian community where non-religious and nominally religious people are becoming deeply committed Christians.” I’d like your input (please do this today or tomorrow, as I’ll be using this to review ideas for future series with my pastoral colleagues in town.)

Here are the questions I’d like you to answer. Please send/drop your responses by the office or email them to

1.         If you could ask Jesus one (or two) questions, what would you ask?

2.         What is the personal struggle or relationship issue that you most often ask for God’s help with?

3.         Is there a book in the Bible, a section of the Bible, a character in the Bible or a theme in the Bible that you’d value having as the focus of a sermon or sermons?

4.         Are there ethical issues, current events or global concerns that you believe I should address in a sermon?

5.         Thinking of your friends who don’t go to church, what might be a sermon topic or series that you feel they would be interested in attending?

6.         How can I best help you grow in your personal spiritual life through preaching? Where do you struggle in your spiritual life and growth?

7.         Last year we had a great response to some of our guest preachers. Are there people you feel would be amazing guest preachers for a special weekend in 2020?

Thanks so much for sharing your responses to these questions. I’m excited about the sermons coming up this fall. We have kicked off with Faith By Numbers exploring John Wesley, Methodism and our faith.  In November we are going to be learning to Practice a Kingdom Economy as we study how God hopes we share and use our resources as we live out Jesus’ practices in our lives.

I hope you continue to find our worship messages meaningful ways to ground yourself in God as you go into your week.

Enthusiastic Peace,

Pastor Tyler

We will also have boxes for pantry items needed by Tumbleweed and Independence Hall.
FREE STORE – BIRTHDAY BAG MINISTRY – Each of us can remember a special childhood birthday. However, some of the shoppers at the Free Store cannot afford even a birthday cake for a child’s birthday.  Consequently one of the volunteers started the Birthday Bag Ministry. Each birthday bag (gender specific) contains a cake mix, a can of frosting, candles and party favors for 5-6 children.  Posted signs tell parents to notify a volunteer if a child has a birthday during the current month.  We are also looking for someone new to continue this great ministry.  If you are interested, please contact Peg Parker (690-6370) or
TRUNK OR TREAT – We will be holding our annual trunk or treat on Thursday, October 31, from 5-7 pm. We will have a sign- up sheet for volunteers and we will are asking for donations of candy again this year.  Thank you for your support and help.

If you appreciate what Shiloh does, please consider giving to us financially.  You can give online at  Thank you for supporting our work.
