People of Shiloh,

The call to care for creation is deeply rooted in our Methodist tradition.  Our United Methodist Bishops have twice issued calls for us to care for all creation and we as a church know that environmental disasters are beginning to impact more and more of our brothers and sisters in coastal/island regions.  The following statements come from our call to care for creation found in our Book of Resolutions, a book containing calls in our tradition to step out in faith to make the world more like the Kingdom of God.

“The story of the garden (Genesis 2) reveals the complete and harmonious interrelatedness of creation, with humankind designed to relate to God, one another, and the rest of the created order. God’s vision of “shalom” invites all of creation to know wholeness and harmony, and the good news that we are called to proclaim includes the promise that Jesus Christ came to redeem all creation (Colossians 1:15-20).”

As The United Methodist Church we understand our responsibility to address and our complicity in the challenges facing God’s creation. We urge all United Methodists, local faith communities, agencies, and institutions to examine their roles as caretakers of creation and to study, discuss, and work to implement this resolution.

As your Pastor I am inviting us to participate in the Climate Strike here in Billings.  The Montana Interfaith Network is organizing this event alongside many congregations and spiritual leaders.  There will be a gathering to hear from speakers on climate at the courthouse lawn on Monday, September 23 at noon.  Then short informational videos and conversations from 12-12:30pm at Shiloh September 24-26.  We invite you to join us as we learn how to protect God’s creation.

Enthusiastic Peace,

Pastor Tyler

Our choir members all started without knowing their part and learned by practicing Sunday mornings prior to worship. My desire for you as a choir member is that you have a beautiful learning experience, have fun (yes, we laugh plenty), and learn to read and understand music more clearly.
