Generosity Corner for Sunday, November 3, 2019

Click here to watch a video to prepare your heart and mind for our service Sunday.
Grace and Peace to you in the name of Jesus Christ!
Sunday, November 17 is Consecration Sunday at Shiloh. I urge you to plan now to attend the two important events taking place on that day: Sunday morning worship and the Celebration Luncheon immediately following worship (a catered meal, not a potluck dinner).
During the month of November at Shiloh, we’ll be focusing on the spiritual practice of generosity. In worship we’ll be talking about what it means to save, spend, and give like Jesus. Throughout the month we are being asked to consider and pray about this questions – “How is God inviting me to be generous?” and “What is God calling me to give?”
We look forward to seeing you on Consecration Sunday as we make our financial commitments as an act of worship in the church sanctuary.
No one will call on you at home for a pledge. But we will contact you personally to secure your commitment to attend worship on Consecration Sunday and the Celebration Luncheon immediately following worship at 11:30am.
         In Christ,
         Susan Hathaway, Consecration Sunday Chairperson

NOVEMBER  WORSHIP – Grateful, Thankful, Blessed: Rooted in Generosity
This November we will be exploring the life of 3 women in the Bible and how their giving helped begin the transformation of the world.  Join us as we learn from these saints of our tradition of how generous lives can allow us to be part of God’s love.
ANIMATE! – We think it is important for people to take time out to understand their faith, so they can animate it in their everyday lives.  Shiloh is providing 3 sessions of Animate groups.  Each session is a 7-week course.  Tuesday groups meet at Mission Ridge at St. Johns at 10:30 am and at Shiloh at 12 noon (Nov 5, 12, 26).  Thursday’s group meets at 6:30 pm at the Ragsdale’s house, members of EUMC, at 612 Wyoming    (Nov. 7, 14, 21).
ALL SAINTS SUNDAY – Sunday is All Saints Sunday! It is a day for us to give thanks for people who served us in faith and life.  On this day, we want to take special moment to honor those who have returned to God after death in this past year.  Today we will be honoring: Robert Teegarden, Margaret Forsythe and Dee Pedersen.
COFFEE WITH THE PASTOR – Do you want to learn more about the church?  Join Pastor Tylor for a discussion in his office today at 11:30 am.
A HUGE THANK YOU – A huge thank you to everyone who helped with Trunk or Treat and for everyone who donated candy this year or helped decorate inside.  All of this is what makes Trunk or Treat at SUMC a huge success. – Brenda Longin
MESSY CHURCH – We will have Messy Church on November 4 at 6:00 pm – 6:45 pm. We will have music, prayers, lessons, games or crafts, light snacks, and lots of fun!  All are welcome!  This is a great time to worship as a family and have a lot of fun too!  We hope to see you.
VETERAN’S BREAKFAST – We will be honoring our Veterans with breakfast on Sunday, November 10.  We will be serving a traditional biscuits and gravy breakfast plus cinnamon rolls, sausage and fruit.  We will serve from 9:00 am until 10:00 am giving everyone, we hope, a chance to eat.  The 8:00 am service can eat after services.  Adult Sunday School can eat before they go to Sunday school.  Chime Choir can eat after they practice.  And, hopefully, those of you who attend the 10:15 am service can come a little early and have breakfast. This is our chance to say thank you to all our Veterans of any service, of any age.
AGING WELL – November’s Aging Well topic will be Nutrition and Healthy Cooking on November 13 at 11:30 am.  All of our presentations are interactive, educational, and fun!  RSVPs to the church office are appreciated and assist us with our luncheon needs.
FAITH & FILM – The movie for November is Blinded by the Light. In England in 1987, a teenager from an Asian family learns to live his life, understand his family and find his own voice through the music of American rock star, Bruce Springsteen. Bring a snack and a friend and join the discussion after the film on November 10 at 5:30 pm.

Newsletter – November 2019

November is a season of generosity at Shiloh, where we learn about the generosity of Jesus, the generosity of saints, and we practice generosity ourselves.  We know and trust that through generosity we will find life more free in our God.
Join us as we root ourselves in generosity.
