Shiloh E-Pistle for August 6, 2020

Watch a message from Pastor Tyler for this week.

Pastor’s Corner for August 6

People of Shiloh,

This week we have about 18 kids at our church experiencing a physically distanced VBS with the leadership of First UMC here in Billings.  It is the first time I have been able to step away into my office and look out the window to see kids learning about Jesus since I have been at our church.  It reminds me how much we are being called to grow in our call to share Jesus’ way with people.  As Methodists we share Jesus’ way because we believe it brings abundant life.  We are called to regularly have children, adults, teens, older adults, younger adults and everyone learning about Jesus in our midst.

In this season of COVID-19 I believe our small church is poised to take leadership in how to grow as family sized communities of faith.  In this year we could demonstrate how to have small group worship be an effective and exciting way to worship our God.  In this time we could show people how to be safe and risk learning about Christ to help us navigate our lives and find abundance.

I hope you will pray about what Shiloh is becoming as we enter this fall and consider joining our All Church Calendaring Zoom on Thursday, August 13 at 6:00 pm as we discuss our plans for the year.  We will be discussing what and how we can offer opportunities Please email me if you would like to join us.

Also, please join us for Praise by the Pool on Sunday, August 9, 9:30am at Rose Park.  This will be a drive in and outdoor worship, and you can go for a swim after church.  Bring a chair, swimsuit or just pull up in your car to tune in.

Enthusiastic Peace,

Pastor Tyler

What happens when our world falls apart? How do we press onward when our tightly- knit plans unravel into loose threads? What do we become when our identity—or the path we’re on—comes undone? What if all of this is not the end we fear it will be? In our unraveling, sometimes life surprises us with unexpected joy, love, and hope— with a new beginning we couldn’t have imagined.

Sometimes we need God to unravel us, for we long to be changed. This worship series explores 9 stories of unraveled shame, identity, fear, grief, dreams, and expectations. These are stories where God meets us in the spiraling, unraveling our plans—and us—into something new.

We continue to monitor the situation as Montana opens in phases. Because we are committed to the health and safety of all, especially our most vulnerable of God’s children.  In Phase 2 we will be shifting to a model of online and small group worship, intermixed with parking lot worship. Please check back for updates and be sure to join us online for our weekly worship services.
