Worship Corner for September 6

People of Shiloh,

Last week you met Mr. Worship.  I am sure he looked a little familiar to you all.  This week he has asked to interview me about the new interactive online worship we will start September 13, and also how to sign up for in-person community worship.

Mr. Worship:  Tyler it is good to be able to ask you a few questions about worship this fall.  I want to start by asking you, did you imagine when 2020 started that you would be making these changes for the fall?

Pastor Tyler:  It is good to be chatting with you again also.  I had no idea when 2020 started that we would be doing anything like this.  I continually share with our leaders that the circumstances of this year have moved the life of the church ahead by about 3 years.  We are making the kind of shifts I knew would be necessary to be a healthy church in the future, I just never imagined we would need to move so quickly.

Mr. Worship:  Wow, so while these changes were sudden, they were not unexpected?

Pastor Tyler:  We are being leaders by creating worship spaces that work for the circumstances of 2020 and will help us grow in the future.  We could have never predicted a pandemic environment.  However, many predicted the decline of traditional church, the need for multiple worship times to connect people, and that online worship be a primary model of connection.

Mr. Worship:  Tell us more about how you are working to make online church a primary model of connection starting September 13.

Pastor Tyler:  First, I would invite folks to go back and watch our first online worship service from March 15, 2020.  This worship was our normal in person worship thrown up online.  The pastors in Billings have worked hard to grow this, and now we are moving into a new, more interactive model.  I will be in my office each week, most often live, sharing worship with you all so you can interact with me.  You will be able to text prayers, comment online, and know that I am leading you all in worship each week.

Mr. Worship:  Do you think all ages can participate in this new service?

Pastor Tyler:  Yes, one of our 98 year old members has learned to text me during services already and types comments on Facebook.  I think anyone can find this meaningful and a powerful way to connect to God.  If anyone needs instructions on how to connect, let us know.

Mr. Worship:  You also have in-person community worship coming up.  How will people sign up for that?

Pastor Tyler:  These worship settings of 15 or less people have two options for signup.  If folks want to regularly attend Sunday at 8am, 10:30am, or noon or Wednesday at 4pm, they should call the office or email me to sign up.  If they need more flexibility, or are looking for more kid-friendly services, they need to go to each week before service to signup and make sure there is space for them.  We will share more details next week.

Mr. Worship:  Well Pastor Tyler, thanks for sharing this information and if you are looking for more instructions you can go to

Grace and Peace,

Anyone who would like to volunteer to help with these types of projects please just call the office.

What happens when our world falls apart? How do we press onward when our tightly- knit plans unravel into loose threads? What do we become when our identity—or the path we’re on—comes undone? What if all of this is not the end we fear it will be? In our unraveling, sometimes life surprises us with unexpected joy, love, and hope— with a new beginning we couldn’t have imagined.

Sometimes we need God to unravel us, for we long to be changed. This worship series explores 9 stories of unraveled shame, identity, fear, grief, dreams, and expectations. These are stories where God meets us in the spiraling, unraveling our plans—and us—into something new.

We continue to monitor the situation as Montana opens in phases. Because we are committed to the health and safety of all, especially our most vulnerable of God’s children.  In Fall of 2020 we will be shifting to a model of community worship and online hybrid worship.  Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks.
